Mungkin kalian sempat menyukai materi awal " The Coming of Genocide " dan " Of Fracture and Failure ", tapi mungkin harus menelan sedikit rasa kecewa terhadap progres TDM asal Auckland, New Zealand. jika pada awalnya mereka sangat memukau dengan konsep menawan Straightforward TDM, namun sejak era " Everything Is Fire " tahun 2009, pergeseran karakter telah terjadi. meski tetap menawarkan ketukan musik yang cepat, injeksi warna Avant Garde mulai membuat Ekspetasi berbeda, semuanya menjadi terlalu gelap, abstrak dan bertele-tele rasanya. Sebuah deskriptor meskipun hampir tidak berarti pas dari musik yang menginfeksi membuat Atmosfer DM ortodoks, meskipun unsur-unsur teknikal dan BDM hadir juga, karakter musik bergerak dari atmosfir melodi minimalis, melalui ketegangan disonan yang menyeramkan menuju pusaran kekerasan DM. To me this band does what Deathspell Omega does for black metal; it takes traditional Overused elements and molds it with technical prowess and Excellent song writing to produce a highly original variant of their parent genre. Because of the extensive use of dissonance and slowly trudging along Creepiness mixed with violent Explosions it even sounds like Deathspell Omega from time to time. mungkin secara mendasar karakter musikalnya ingin menyajikan DM yang lebih gelap, Atmospherik, abstrak dan mematikan, Ulcerate terlalu jauh membuang warna-warna dramatis DM terdengar eksotis meski kekacauan harmonisasi harus merampasnya. sementara materi tahun 2008 " The Destroyers of All " mulai ternikmati fans, Ulcerate masih dihadapkan dengan konsekuensi yang ada. dan setelah materi terakhir " Vermis " tahun 2013, Ulcerate sempat memutuskan vakum hingga 4 tahun berselang sejak mereka mengenalkan single " Extinguished Light " tahun 2016, inilah album penuh ke-2 Ulcerate sejak bersama Relapse Records. rupanya perjalanan antar dimensi tak bertuan baru siap mereka tawarkan disini. kombinasi Perspekstif musikal yang mengikuti arus emosional dan gelapnya hati manusia masih ditawarkan sangat kental di " Shrines of Paralysis ", seperti sedang mendengarkan kembali " Colour of Sand " nya Gorguts, bedanya Ulcerate masih eksis menggeber extremely Blastbeating cadas-nya, meski Ulcerate telah hijrah dari Konsep awal, karakter saat ini menjadi pilihan terbaik yang mereka lakukan dibeberapa album sebelumnya.
